About This Blog

It’s All Semantics is the blog from Silverchair. Our team is made up of publishers, business professionals, technology experts, taxonomists, editors, librarians, and indexers, and we’ll be offering our insights on semantic publishing, search, taxonomy development, the Semantic Web, and more.

We’ve been involved in semantic publishing at Silverchair since 1993,when we first used semantic indexing to go beyond full-text searching in the web application Neurology in Clinical Practice. Since then, we have semantically enriched thousands of textbook and journal pages and have built state-of-the-art products and feature sets based on this semantic foundation. We have a proven track record of developing taxonomies, providing robust tagging services, creating web-based tools for tagging and taxonomy management, and developing semantic web services. Our clients include medical publishers such as McGraw-Hill; societies such as the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Massachusetts Medical Society; and the U.S. federal government, including the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research, a division of the Department of Health and Human Services.
